Film Synopsis

Synopsis for Film – The Bitter Truth

A teenager girl aged17, named Hannah popular pretty girl, who everybody in the high school envies, because they want to be her. She’s clever and intelligent, and she looks confident however things under the surface aren’t so pretty. Her older sister, Adele is extremely pretty and has recently one Miss Britain 2010. This brings Hannah down and therefore wants to be like her.  Adele however wants Hannah to stay as she is because she looks prettier next to an ‘ugly’ sister.

The sisters go to the same school. Therefore she sees Hannah as both characters, at home and at school. Adele tries to uncover Hannah’s real identity; she does this by inviting everyone to a party. However, Hannah hasn’t taken off her make-up so looks the same. Adele’s boyfriend then likes Hannah and breaks up with Adele for Hannah. Adele finds out and wants revenge…

The main character is a bit of a nerd at home, she wears make up and fashion to fit in wit the crowd, which is what makes her popular at school. At school, she gets tests back as F’s, however in actual exams she gets A*’s because she is really clever and therefore the rest of her ‘friends’ don’t realise that she is clever. This is what her sister Adele, wants to reveal about her so that she can stop being pretty and her sister gets more of the attention at school as well as at home.

The boyfriend of both sisters has no idea that they are sisters when he first meets Hannah. This is why is able to break up with Adele because he doesn’t think he will ever see her again.

The film is from the main character’s point of view; it goes through in and out time to show previous things that have happened to explain what happens at the very beginning of the film… The sister slaps Hannah, the ’12 hours earlier’ and it goes back to when the main character is originally getting ready for school transforming from a ‘nerd’ to a ‘pretty girl’.

Throughout the whole film, it will be going back to the present time and back to the past of that day. Throughout that day, Adele will be trying to crack Hannah so that she gets caught without her make-up. Eventually at the end of the film, where it shows the present time that will be when Hannah is then shown without her make-up on because it has ruined her relationship with her sister. The boy then sees her as herself and she doesn’t want him to see her, however he prefers her with no make-up because she is pretty as she is. The End.
